The western aesthetic is hot this Fall which is music to the ears of this country gal. Ok, ok … technically I’m a city girl but dang if I don’t like a bit of boot scootin’ every now and again.

As indicated by the title of this post, the selected theme for this edition of the Magnificent 8 Collaboration is western and this is a fun one. It’s a kissin’ cousin to two other popular trends; the Ralph Lauren/equestrian aesthetic with its ruffled button-downs and all things denim and suede, and cottage-core with its whimsical romantic prints and floral dresses. Attendees at music festivals like Stagecoach often add a boho twist to their western-themed attire.

In big doses or small ones, there are several details to pick from that can add a western flare to any look. Jeans and a tooled leather belt or a plaid shirt with a bandana scarf. Some cow-print or a bit of fringe would do the trick as does nearly anything denim. But perhaps the most iconic of them is the cowboy boot. And of course, there is the hat. If you’ve got those two, it don’t really matter much what’s in between ‘cuz someone’s bound to ask if you’re on your way to a rodeo.

Let’s move on to the Magnificent 8 Collaboration. It is a collaboration among 8 stylish women, each in a different age bracket, ranging from early 20s to early 80s. The intent of the collaboration is to show that there are no age restrictions on style. So wear what you want, when you want, add a smile, and strut your style with confidence. And be sure to check out the other 7 amazing gals! We are sharing these posts on a quarterly basis … be on the lookout at the end of January for the next posts in this series.

The Magnificent 8 Collaboration began in the Summer of 2018 as a quarterly venture and this is its 18th installment. The previous ones were; Life’s A Beach, Distressed, Workout Wear, Spring Pattern Mixing, White Dress, Animal Print, Family Heirloom, Garden Party, Hello Yellow, Pearls, Outside The BoxStatement Pants, Inspired ByInvested In Style, Stick A Pin On It, Secondhand Style, and most recently Summer Linen.

Have you visited any of the other Magnificent 8 gals yet and seen their spins on the theme of Western? In case you haven’t, let me help in getting you on your way.

  1. Cowboy boot and the hat. If you’ve got those two, it don’t really matter much what’s in between 👍👍

  3. I’m keeping my eye out for a pair of cowboy boots, I’m thinking perhaps the ankle boot style, for a change? I got rid of my last pair because they didn’t have a zip and I could never get them off without help! It drove me nuts lol!
I LOVE how you styled the western look, Rena. The addition of the cardigan is utter perfection!
    Big hugs

  4. You’re so right, the boots and hat together meet the theme alone no matter what clothing you wear with them! But I think the outfit you picked coordinates with this look so well and I really like that skirt! 🙂 This was a fun theme!

Hope you’re having a nice weekend.
