The idea for the title of this post came to me Friday morning as I was putting on my seersucker blazer and the phrase “see ya, sucker” popped into my mind.  Vacations and the long school break aside, summer is my least favorite season when it comes to weather and clothing options.  Especially in my region of SoCal where the temps are at least in the 90’s most days July through September.  I’m nearly giddy with delight that cooler temps in the 70’s are now showing in the forecast for later this week.

Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.

It was a full five-day work week, the first one for me in over a month. With milder weather coming, soon you’ll be seeing me in heavier layers and taller boots.  The daily looks below are likely the last of lighter layers.

Monday

The swelling around my right ankle that I’ve been dealing with since my cast was removed in August is just about gone so I’m able to wear more and more of my footwear again. These lace-up ballet pseudo flats (they have about a 1″ wedge) are very comfortable and camouflage that little bit of residual puffiness. My cami is an old favorite I rediscovered in my recent closet clean-up that’s a fabulous light summer layer.

Tuesday

Nothing not already seen in recent weeks in this outfit.

Wednesday

This white tunic top is another item brought back into the light after going through my closet. My knit vest would have been too heavy to wear outside but it’s perfect for indoors in a building with A/C.

Thursday

Same pants that I wore on Monday paired with my colorful kimono and a pair of gray low-cut booties.  A kimono is a great lighter layer option for work during the summer.

Friday

Remember my jeans from Trending Style: Side Stripe? Well, inspired my daughter who wore hers to work the Friday before with a black blazer and black flats, I whipped up this look.  And the name of this post.  The blue suede booties I’m sporting were my first venture back into my higher heels and it was just like riding a bicycle.  Uh, you know what I mean.

And there you have it, a look back at what I wore to work last week.  How do you decide what you will wear to work? Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be checked out from any type of routine, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, I consider that to be your “work” and you should/can be dressed accordingly. And even if you are retired, in whatever manner you’ve enjoyed your day is good enough for me.

October has always felt like “my” month, for a whole host of reasons that I’ll be sharing in an upcoming post. Here’s a sneak peek photo.

I’m really delighted to see that you wear a kimono just as you would a jacket or sweater and that it’s a part of your work repertoire! I don’t see a lot of kimonos here in the Midwest and I’ve really taken a liking to them in just the last year. The one you’re wearing here on Thursday is a print I’d wear and I think the gorgeous variety of prints is one characteristic that draws me to the style.

I also like your scalloped fringe jeans! I’ve meant to do this treatment on a pair of my jeans but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

You’ve tweeked my interest for what’s coming in next week’s post. Is this a hint of a possible trip in your future? A retirement option you’re contemplating? I remember from our “roomie chats” last October that you and your husband were starting to think about downsizing or just relocating.
So much can change in a year…
