The unsung heroes in the denim world are flared jeans. No other cut has the power to elongate the leg, to create balance in your silhouette, and to effortlessly ground your style.

Women of my generation can recall the rise in popularity of denim as a mainstream wardrobe staple and when bell-bottoms were the rage. Those younger recognize their versatility as a go-to alternative for skinny jeans. Not that I have any against skinny jeans or any other style. I do, however, dislike the term “mom jeans” but that’s a topic for another post.

A little boho, a little bit country, and a whole lot classic … perhaps the appeal of flared jeans is the retro aspect that they lend to a look. Don’t mistake that for old-fashioned or out of style. Given the variety of cuts and fits available, it’s difficult to choose badly when it comes to jeans of any design.

It’s probably hard to miss noticing these faux-snake booties. I’ll admit that they were an impulse purchase and originally intended to be sold on Poshmark. They were quite the steal. But alas, I couldn’t bear to part with them considering how fabulous they look and that they fit me so well. What gal can’t use another pair of boots?

For the rest of my look, I opted for another color option of the top I sported in Would You, Could You? Camo Joggers. I adore the style so much I bought it in a third color as well. I guess that I’ve done a bit of shopping lately because my chunky knit sweater is also a recent purchase (no longer available online but this one is similar). The belt was a fabulous bargain but my flared jeans were a thrift store find so a small measure of slow fashion made into this outfit.

I nearly went with pairing up these jeans with a flannel plaid shirt and cowboy boots for this post. How would you wear flared jeans this season? Sleek and classic with turtleneck and blazer? Or 70’s style with a ruffled blouse, paisley vest, and block-heeled boots? Or with a band tee and leather jacket for a rocker chick look? What’s your best idea?

If you’ve read my last post Turning The Camera Around: The Husband, then you might have guessed that a few of those photos were taken at the same location and at the same time as the ones in this post. And if so, then I’d say that you have a keen eye. When you find yourself short on time for taking photos, then you try to make them do double duty. Besides, that last post wasn’t so much about me as it was about The Husband so I hoped you wouldn’t notice the outfit repeat.

Be well and let’s stay in touch! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, pin … all options are available. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
