Are you as guilty as I am of “jumping ahead”, with your efforts focused disproportionately on the future at the expense of the present? Planning for upcoming events is quite necessary for the success of those plans but we must also allow ourselves the pleasure of enjoying now. Like carving out a few minutes to sit on the beach and watch as the sun disappears on the horizon. And making plans to do it again the next day and the next.

Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.

We (The Husband and I) have indulged in a bit of “jumping ahead”. With retirement on a much shorter horizon now, we’re “on the move”, so to speak. A new place has been bought and is being fixed up to our liking. There’s a buyer for the old place so that process is on its way. Meanwhile back in the office, the daily grind continues.

Monday

First work day after “jumping ahead” one hour to Daylight Saving Time so I went with one of my tried-and-true combos.  An unsuited suit; black and white tweed jacket, black trousers, and a floral top.

Tuesday

As daylight gets longer, the days for boots gets shorter (at least in my fashion rules book) so in maximizing the time left in this season, it’s a skirt and boots ensemble FTW.

Wednesday

With the temps starting to fluctuate, I dared to bare my ankles. While not at all a provocative look, I’ve found that a key to feeling toasty in colder weather is making sure that my feet are warm. Exposure like this might have left me in the cold.  Fortunately, the office HVAC was set at a comfortable mark so my footwear choice was not a misstep.

Thursday

Pushing a bit on the weather and the season with lighter layers like this top and jacket.

Friday

I shared this look earlier in the week on Instagram as one of my daily entries in this month’s  Spring Into Thrift #thriftedchicstylechallenge hosted by @seechele_styles, @jtouchofstyle, @asksuzannebell, @cristy_, and @pixieandcurls.  Both the long cardigan and the jeans are thrift store finds.

And there you have it, a look back at what I wore to work last week.  How do you decide what you will wear to work? Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be checked out from any type of routine, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, I consider that to be your “work” and you should/can be dressed accordingly. And even if you are retired, in whatever manner you’ve enjoyed your day is good enough for me.

Sitting on the beach, waiting for the sun to set yet again.  So many sunsets have been witnessed and so many more to come.  There’s no better way to pull back from jumping ahead.

Let’s connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin … all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Is your future retirement home on the beach?? THAT would be lovely!!!
Almost a nice as that thrifted stripey sweater and those sophisticated Mary-Janes!!

  2. Sounds like you are really ahead in your retirement plans, something to really look forward to. I am semi-retired, doing casual work sometimes but over the last couple of months it has been more constant , it did take more planning to work my daily outfits.

  3. I can’t tell you how exciting that is that you are working on your retirement plans, Rena!! We don’t regret it a bit. Life is too short….
I did LOVE that cardigan you wore for the style challenge…it’s all sort of perfect for spring!!
