Much to my surprise, the weather in SoCal has stayed winter-like (at least for this region) far longer than in the past few years. Typically, the most we’d gotten recently was a relatively short cold spell in late December or early January and then the temps would rise to a “pre-spring” level that will range from high 60’s to low 70’s. Hardly worth the effort of layering and often foolishly too warm for tights and boots. Not the case this year and I’m enjoying every minute of it.  After all, with the rain comes rainbows.

Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.

Monday

Nearly all of my clothing is contained in my main closet but I do have a few items stored in another. I thought that most of those items were ones that are either out of season or that don’t fit me at this time. Even so, I decided to remind myself of what had been relegated this closet and was delighted to rediscover this “coatigan” (in fashion lingo, that’s a cross between a coat and a cardigan). Actually, I think that it’s more of a cross between a blazer and a coat but a mash-up of those terms isn’t good.

Tuesday

It may be difficult to tell due to lighting in my office but I’m wearing my black knit vest which is one of my favorite layering pieces. It’s getting a lot of wear this year because it’s so versatile and adds just to right amount of extra warmth when a jacket would be too much.

Wednesday

Another coatigan that was also rediscovered in my recent closet search. Paired with sheath knit dress and tall boots, I was warm and toasty all day long.

Thursday

Actual photos in the rain and an umbrella that coordinates with my outfit. I’d had an out-of-office meeting in the early afternoon and hadn’t taken my in-office photos before I left, hence the makeup pics when I got home. It was just a little drizzly. Even so, there wasn’t any reason for The Husband to get wet so he stood inside the front door while I made sure to not get too close to that top step behind me. Layers, leggings, boots … I was a happy gal even on a blustery day.

Friday

I took the day off (can you say 4-day weekend) so no casual Friday OOTD photos this week.

And there you have it, a look back at what I wore to work last week.  How do you decide what you will wear to work? Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be checked out from any type of routine, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, I consider that to be your “work” and you should/can be dressed accordingly. And even if you are retired, in whatever manner you’ve enjoyed your day is good enough for me.

This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with some very inspiring women, all of whom I’ve met because of Catherine and the Forever Fierce Revolution.

On February 19, the Forever Fierce Revolution celebrates the third anniversary of its beginning and the global movement to shift the perception of women at Midlife & Beyond to one that is vibrant and empowered.

We are Relevant. We are Kind. We are Rewired. We are Inspired.

We are connected. We belong.

Most of all, we are Fierce.

You’ll be seeing more about this celebration on Facebook and Instagram.

All in all, it was a great week and a fabulous weekend. I hope yours were as enjoyable.

Let’s connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin … all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you.

I love that you found some “new” pieces in your closet. I have many of these, and need to pull them out. Especially my vests that don’t get as much wear in the winter.
    XOXO
