The crash and burn of both my 16 Goals for 2016 and my 17 Challenges In ’17, had me avoiding that whole scene in the last two years. However, much like the diminishing memories of the pain of childbirth, I’m willing to take another go at it with 20 Targets For ’20.

In choosing the word “target”, I’m reminding myself that the outcomes may differ from my initial aim, as in they may move.  The intention is for me to be more mindful and present and yet achieve some long-time goals that require incremental steps.  My list of 20 targets include a mix of those to be accomplished by the end of the year and those set to happen every day or are to be achieved each month.  The ones that don’t specifically say “day” or “month” are for the whole year.  In a couple of cases, the targets may overlap where the same action/activity can be counted for more than one (for example, see 3 and 19).

So short and sweet, and in no particular order, my 20 Targets for ’20 are as follows;

      1. 20 minutes/day to be spent on meditation
      2. 20 minutes/day to be spent on organizing
      3. 20 days/month with a reportable exercise performed
      4. 20 Instagram posts/month
      5. 20 minutes/day to be spent on writing
      6. 20 items posted in Poshmark/month
      7. 20 non-fashion/non-recipe blog posts
      8. 20 items culled from wardrobe/month
      9. 20 handicraft projects
      10. 20% increase in social media followers
      11. 20 new places explored
      12. 20 gatherings hosted
      13. 20% increase in step count/month
      14. 20 new recipes prepared
      15. 20 pounds lost in 20 weeks (part 1)
      16. 20 pounds lost in 20 weeks (part 2)
      17. 20 massages
      18. 20 rounds of golf
      19. 20 minutes/day outdoor time in sunlight (weather permitting)
      20. 20th of each month report on my progress

None of these targets need much explanation.  Number 8 may prove to be a little tough but I think that as my style is evolving, I may exceed the target some months. After all, I’m not making a no shopping pledge. Of all of the 20 targets, I fear that number 10 may be the hardest to achieve.

Targets 15 and 16 may look like duplicates but when combined, the target is to lose at least 40 pounds this year.  Like everyone else, I’m not getting any younger and life is not going to get any easier especially if my weight keeps creeping up like it has in the past few years.  Fingers crossed, I’ll be retiring from, as some might say, my day-job in about 3 months, so now is a perfect time to initiate the lifestyle changes necessary for me to make the most of the next phase in my life.

As I end this post, it is with gratitude that I wish for each reader of this blog to have a wonderful year and that you reach whatever goals, challenges, or targets you’ve set for yourself in 2020.

  1. Wow, you spent quite some thoughts on your resolution. When I read your headline I wondered why 20. Of course, 2020. They are all thoughtful and beneficial as well as doable. Even when you only get half of them done, it’s a big step. Good luck and happy New Year.

  2. Those are some pretty great targets for 2020. I like the 20 items on Poshmark per month. I need to set that target for myself as well. And the 40 pounds bit as well! Wishing you much success with your targets and all great things for you in the new year, my friend.

  3. Happy New year! I do not have anything to specific for the year but as my word is growth, I figure it can only go up! I think it will help this year that I have written specifics in a blog post I I can revisit my goals. Media following is a hard one: my numbers of followers on Insta have been stagnant for the past few weeks, I need to get more creative with my hashtags and also start doing more stories!

I don’t really do resolutions, I just find January a massive motivation sapper. You’ve set yourself some great goals though…I bet you’re looking forward to retiring! My husband’s 52 and he can’t wait, but he’s got a few years to go yet!
