Look, a word with several definitions and uses in the English language.  It can be a noun, “I like that look that she’s wearing”; or a verb, “that outfit looks nice”.  Look can also be an exclamation, often used to call attention to what someone is going to say, “look, that outfit is fabulous”.

Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.

Its use as an exclamation by newscasters during broadcast segments and interviews has really caught my attention lately.   And not necessarily in a good way.  If I’m noticing it, then I think it’s being used way too often.  Kind of passive/aggressive and dismissive of the viewer who may not agree or believe with what is being said.  My looks, however, for the past week are here simply for you to form your own opinion.

Monday

I bought myself a new pair of ankle/cropped black pants. The brand’s promise is that the color won’t fade over time. I hope that’s the case.   Notice, I’ve tripled up on dots in this look.

Tuesday

The temps have been up and down though the AC in the building I work in is always on. I find a dramatic vest to be a good option and alternative to a jacket. This will be the third autumn/winter for this fringed beauty.  And yes, I did wear my new ankle/cropped black pants two days in a row.

Wednesday

Back in a jacket, this look might have been more balanced with my ankle/cropped pants but three days in a row would have been too much. Not to disparage my Friday outfit, but I think this one is my favorite of the week. The jacket is a blue/black tweed and a thrift store find from about two years ago. It’s actually supposed to be double-breasted (aren’t we all, LOL) but it doesn’t quite fit me that way. So, I removed the buttons and used a ribbon threaded through the top buttonholes as a closure. Tada, problem solved.

Thursday

Warmer temps again so I went with a lighter colored jacket. Hopefully, this will be the last wearing of this jacket until next Spring.

Friday

Most weeks, I’m waiting in anticipation to wear my Friday casual outfit that I formulated in my mind much earlier in the week. However, on this day I had no plan as to what I was going to wear. Jeans were a given but it wasn’t until I was mulling over the options in my closet that I hit upon this blouse. Black boots and corduroy blazer completed the look. The photo on the right is meant to show the ruffle edge along the cuff.

And there you have it, a look back at what I wore to work last week.  How do you decide what you will wear to work? Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be checked out from any type of routine, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, I consider that to be your “work” and you should/can be dressed accordingly. And even if you are retired, in whatever manner you’ve enjoyed your day is good enough for me.

Look, despite all the other items on our to-do lists, The Husband and I managed to squeeze in an all-important blog photoshoot for an upcoming Magnificent 8 collaboration post. It’ll be out next week and I’m running wild with the theme this time. Got any guesses as to what it might be? Do be sure to stop by to take a look.

Let’s connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin … all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you.
