“Anticipation is sometimes more exciting than actual events” – Ana Monnar

It’s not my usual style to start a post with a quote but there’s no one to say that I can’t. When I settled on “anticipation” as my topic, I was thinking both of my upcoming retirement and the weather. I hardly expect that retirement will be less exciting in actuality; however, I do fear that I might miss some of the current goings-on if I’m only looking at that goal. With the weather, I’ve been anticipating the cooler temps of Fall but as usual, summer tends to linger into October in SoCal.

Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.

The countdown to retirement is now at 6 months. Work for me gets quite busy and intense this time of year. Even more so to ensure that the people I work with learn the hows and whys of what I do so that it can continue to be done as expected after I’m gone.

Monday

Due to my observance of Rosh Hashana, I didn’t go to work. Shana Tova.

Tuesday

This outfit is similar to the one I shared in my recent Then & Now: Out With The Old post. The jacket and top here are the same as the ones in the closing photo of that post. The pants and shoes are different and yet similar. I wore black pants in both looks but the ones here are wide leg and in the other version they were straight leg trousers. In last year’s outfit, I was wearing leopard print booties and this time around, I’m wearing loafers with leopard accents. I bought these beauties on Poshmark and they’re probably my best purchase. So comfortable … like walking on a cloud.

Wednesday

Even with our still warmish temps, the office is often cool due to the AC. No problem, I’ve got my shawl vest to take up the challenge of providing an extra layer without being too heavy. I’m also fond of how a vest like this one lets more of the color and style of my top be seen.

Thursday

After sorting through my closets (yes, more than one) the previous weekend, I came across a couple of white blouses I hadn’t worn. On this particular day as I was mulling over wardrobe options in my head, the thought of one of these blouses popped in. I’m not sure the jacket was the best choice but I wanted to go with a lightweight choice. I’ve done worse. At least my black Chelsea boots got their first wearing of AW 2019.

Friday

Once again, my Friday outfit is my favorite of the week. I’ve been pondering for a while why I like my Friday looks so much and I think it’s because they represent how I’d prefer to dress every day if not for my 9-to-5. Soon, that will be a reality but I can’t get ahead myself just yet. If the vest in this outfit looks familiar, just scroll back to Wednesday. Yep, same vest but this time in pumpkin spice (I don’t think that’s what the brand calls the color but that’s what I’m calling it).  I’ve even repeated with a bell sleeve top.  Hey, it’s a great combination, right?

And there you have it, a look back at what I wore to work last week.  How do you decide what you will wear to work? Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be checked out from any type of routine, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, I consider that to be your “work” and you should/can be dressed accordingly. And even if you are retired, in whatever manner you’ve enjoyed your day is good enough for me.

Over this past weekend, The Husband and I ventured out to shoot photos away from our neighborhood for next Saturday’s Would You, Could You post.  I leave you in anticipation with this teaser.

Let’s connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin … all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you.
