It’s often the simple pleasures that can make us the happiest.  Sleeping late, spending time with family, finding a cute sweater on sale, a successful photo shoot for your blog … you know, the usual stuff one does over the weekend.

Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.

Those may not be your pleasures but they are top on my list.  Cute, comfortable shoes and getting odd reactions about my outfit from The Husband are pretty high on that list as well.

Monday

If you been following along with this series for a while, you may have noticed that I’m switching up on my typical “hand-on-hip-crossed-feet” pose. In the set up for these photos, I’m a bit blind to how I look in each shot. The photos are taken using my smartphone that I place into a holder mounted on a tripod that I keep in that spot all the time. I realized some time ago that the photos turn out better in regular mode as opposed to selfie mode. So, the smartphone goes into the holder, I turn on the shutter remote, step into place, and snap away. I take photos facing to the left and to the right and try a few variations. The ones where I’m facing away from the phone are mostly the same from day to day.

I’ve yet to solve the problem of lighting for these photos. Above the waist, there’s plenty of light coming in from the windows but the lower half of me isn’t as well lit. Mostly I tried to compensate in editing but that can only do so much. For instance, my pants are a very pretty shade of blue even though they look nearly black.

Jacket – Ann Taylor Factory
Top – Old Navy
Pants – Merona (thrifted)
Shoes – Eileen Fisher

Tuesday

Long story. Short version is that I wound up not going into the office so no photos.

Wednesday

This is the outfit I’d planned to wear the day before. My recently thrift jacket seems to be getting a regular weekly wearing and again with a print top. This time I’ve paired them with wide-leg pants and cute, comfortable shoes. Simple pleasures.

Jacket – thrifted
Top – Anthropologie
Pants – Ann Taylor Factory
Shoes – Sketcher

Thursday

I’m really liking this new longer length cardigan.  It also seems to be getting a weekly wearing as well as my spotted mules.

Cardigan – Ann Taylor Factory
Top – J Crew Factory
Pants – Lucky Brand (thrifted)
Shoes – Crown Vintage

Friday

My Friday looks are usually my favorite ones of each week and this one is no exception.  However, this is the outfit that got the odd reaction from The Husband. He’s not always awake when I leave for work in the morning so he didn’t see this ensemble until later that evening.  Apparently, he thought that there was a bit too much going on with all of the patterns, especially leopard mixed with floral.  Good thing I rarely follow his fashion advise nor does it change my opinion of this outfit.

Jacket – thrifted and DIY destruction
Top – Simply Vera Vera Wang
Pants – A.N.A. (thrifted)
Shoes – Born (thrifted)

And there you have it, a look back at what I wore to work last week.  How do you decide what you will wear to work? Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be checked out from any type of routine, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, I consider that to be your “work” and you should/can be dressed accordingly. And even if you are retired, in whatever manner you’ve enjoyed your day is good enough for me.

Another simple pleasure I enjoy is browsing through the Halloween display at Target as I got to do this past weekend. The kids are long past trick-or-treating so no need for costumes or related items.  We rarely have gotten many kids coming to our door so we’ve never been big on decorating.  Even so, there is just something magical about seeing the neatly stocked shelves with all of this year’s offerings.  I press all the “try me” buttons and marvel at all of the new oddities.  Photos don’t do it justice.

Let’s connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin … all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you.  And be sure to check out Saturday’s post Would You, Could You? Sequins, A Utility Jacket, And Pops Of Red.

Your pattern mixing is on point here! So many great combinations. I was never big into Halloween but I do believe that it is my kids’ favorite holiday so this year I need to decorate some. I scored about $500 worth of Halloween decor and costumes from Target last year on their 90% off sale…so I spent just around $50 and I have so much stuff!
