Metallic jeans have been on my sartorial wish list for a while. And as the saying goes, good things come to those that wait which I hinted at in Thrift Store Finds & OOTDs: March 2021.

Would You, Could you? is the theme for the second Saturday of the month. Such is the question one might ask of oneself when happening upon fashion inspirations in magazine articles, store displays, or social media. Or you might find inspiration in an unexpected place like a sunset, or a desert landscape, or a plate of food.  Sometimes it might just be the heap of cast-offs in your closet.

In the case of this ensemble, I was eager to share these new-to-me metallic jeans in a post before the weather got too warm because the fabric has limited breathability. The fabric has a coating on it as opposed to being pleather. And while not as apparent in these photos, the finish on these jeans is really quite shiny. They are a recent thrift store find and I paid a whole $3 for them.

Looking through my closet to put together an outfit for this post, my first instinct was to pair the jeans with similar neutral tones. Coming up short for a top, I moved onto options for a jacket and landed on the darker gray corduroy jacket that was recently shown in my Potpourri: Weekend In Paso Robles post. In that part of my closet is where I also keep a bunch of my camisole-type tops and this orange caught my eye. It must be a really long time since I last wore it because I couldn’t find any photos of it in other outfits. Since it has spaghetti straps, this top is great for wearing under a cardigan or jacket because I don’t like the extra bulk you get with long-sleeved tops.

In keeping with the shininess of the jeans, I opted for polished silver-toned jewelry pieces. After selecting my adjustable length necklace that has rings at the end of multiple drops, I repeated to circle motif with my choice of earrings and then added a couple of bangle bracelets.

A very cool outfit – love the earrings! I love orange on others but can’t wear it myself, I’m better in cool colors. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

It’s important to figure out what colors work best for you. I’m finding with my now gray hair that bolder colors like orange are better than pale neutrals.

I was a bit giddy when I found these pants at the store and then surprised by the low price. I landed on orange when light neutrals didn’t seem to work and I’m glad that I did.

A pinkish coral would be a great choice as well. Thank you for the suggestion.

  2. Yes, I have a pair of metallic jeans to, sort of a gold tone. I got them on clearance a few years ago but keep them around because they just make a different kind of statement. I like orange and wear orange so that work for me. Take care, Terri

  3. I love metallics, so I say heck yeah! I am not a huge wearer of orange, but I do have one orange top in my closet that I get tons of compliments on when I do wear it. Love this look!

Thank you, Jodie. I was feeling a bit inspired when I came up with combination.

  5. I think I was probably a magpie in a previous life because I love anything shiny lol!! Needless to say, I think your jeans are a real gem of a find, Rena! Teaming them with the orange was a fabulous choice. You look fantastic!

Thank you, Suzy. Would you believe that there was a time when I wouldn’t have dreamed of wearing shiny pants? But now, anything goes.

Love the orange! I picked up a couple of camisole tanks this year to wear under layers or as a really lightweight top during the summer. Now that I have a comfy strapless bra, I can do more in terms of different necklines.

Orange is an underrated color and too many fear its power (bwah ha ha). 😉

  7. You look great in those metallic pants! I don’t think I can pull them off (plus too hot to wear them here in my country) but that’s a great find! Thank you for hosting this link up!

I would agree that these pants are only suitable when the temperatures are cooler and the humidity levels are low.

Thank you. I’m glad that you like the pants paired with an orange top.

  8. Oh, what? That’s me! Thanks for featuring me, Rena! How cool.

I love the shiny jeans! I have gold metallic leather pants, so I am firmly in the YES Of COURSE We Wear Shiny Pants camp. The orange top is lovely and looks great with it. I also “theme” my jewelry, so am nodding happily at the earring matching the necklace matching the bangles. Fabulous outfit, Rena! Thanks for the link-party too!
