Getting to the point, it’s the details that make an outfit to be unique among others. Some may be bold like a vibrant color and others could be more subtle.

While perhaps not currently a hot trend, the shark bite hem still holds an appeal for me. For those not familiar with this term, it’s a hemline that angles down or perhaps looks like a shark bit the center of the top creating a jagged asymmetric look. Some might say that this style was never particularly chic and even now, a bit dated.

I, on the other hand, like how the undulating line creates an impression of movement and breaks up the horizontal line. Like all eye-catching details, it’s best if they occur where you want to draw the eye. Hemlines can accentuate the length and strength of one’s legs. They can reveal or conceal. Allow other elements of the ensemble to shine.

All of the pieces in this look I had for a while and have made an appearance on the blog previously. Both the dress and the vest have asymmetric hemlines and I’m particularly fond of how they appear layered on one another. Even my boots seem to echo this layering.

Let’s Wrap This Up

Now, onto the Fine-Whatever link-up. After a lengthy absence, it is being restarted. As before, the topic shared for each Saturday in the month is based on a different recurring theme. Adherence to the theme is optional but makes it more likely that you would be the featured contributor the following week. For more information on the link-up can be found on the Link-Ups page.

Where is your focus? Do you stay only with what’s current or do you look at what has worked in the past? Have you given it fresh eyes or stayed with the tried and true?

Stay well and let’s keep in touch! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, pin … all options are available. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks for the link up! Looking forward to joining it weekly and hopefully sometimes try to get in with the theme. I really like the could you would you idea! Always love when you write those posts. I do love today’s outfit. I am focusing on wearing my clothes right now and have been pulling out unworn gems or not so good things that I am getting rid of. I had not heard of the shark hem but the name makes sense! The greys in this outfit are pretty! I am always drawn to that color. At one point I actually had to stop buying it: it was overtaking my closet. I am also wearing my long necklaces more. Displaying them in my closet helps me reach for them.

I should also put some effort into wearing more of the clothes I have. If I not wearing it, why am I giving it space in my closet/drawers/shelves?

Jess, thank you for the welcome back. I’ve been wanting to restart my link-up but somehow it hadn’t happened until now.

  2. Hi Rena – Happy New Year, you look well and happy. Great to see your linkups back, I shall look forward to joining you all. Love your outfit today, forget whether it’s dated or not, it’s whether it feels like YOU!! I too love an assymetrical hem, always think it helps you to look taller as it doesn’t cut the legs in half.
