First Saturday of the month – Powers The Flower

Floral patterns come in all sizes, shapes, and colors and can be worn head to toe, either alone or with others as a wardrobe bouquet. Looking through my closet, the one pattern or print that stands out the most is floral. I have them in all shapes, sizes, color palettes, and styles. From scarfs to shoes and all in between, florals are well represented in my wardrobe. It’s hard for me to resist a pretty flower. And the best thing about florals is that they are ‘in bloom’ all year long.

Are florals a staple in your wardrobe or an accent? Do you prefer abstract or true-to-life? Big or small, light or dark, a little or a lot? Show us what you’ve got in your garden in a monthly link-up called Powers the Flower. Every first Saturday of the month, I will feature a floral varietal (or two) from my ‘garden’ (AKA closet) and I invite you to share yours as well.

Second Saturday of the month – Up Down All-Around

Styling your wardrobe isn’t all fun and games when there’s work to be done. Fashion rules for the workplace are no longer as rigidly defined as they once were. Some of us have been able to seize on this as an opportunity for creative self-expression and others are at a loss as to what they should wear. It seems that much of the clothing sold by retailers these days is intended for casual wear and for those in a younger demographic. How does a working professional ‘woman of a certain age’ embrace the new fashion rules (or lack of them) in a way that is modern, flattering, and unique without breaking the bank?

Up, Down, All-Around is my approach. In this series, I will share a new or old article from my wardrobe and show you how I would and do style it up for the office, style it down for casual, and style it all-around for a special event like date night or a party. Starting in July, Up, Down, All-Around will post on the 2nd Saturday of the month and I invite you to share your work, casual, and fun looks in the link-up.
