For those who love floral prints and boots, the floral bootie trend that’s so huge now is like a gift from heaven. Perhaps a gift suitable to give to oneself on your birthday? Who’s to say? Booties with embellishments like mine come in so many shapes and styles that there’s at least one pair that would be perfect for any occasion.

Since we are in the midst of the holiday season, I thought that pairing up my new plaid textile floral booties with my maxi sequin skirt would make for an interestingly festive outfit. I bought this skirt about two years ago and it’s almost become a tradition for it to make an annual appearance on the blog around this time of year. Its first showing was in 2015 in the post Sequins: One Skirt, Three Looks and then last year, the skirt was featured in one of my Color My World posts, Ivory And Bronze. Although I have no photos, I wore it a couple of weeks ago with a light gray lace peplum top and my bronze glitter peep-toe pumps to the wedding of a colleague’s daughter.

I’d been planning to do a post on these booties for a while and knew that they would be perfect for one of my monthly floral themed posts.   After wearing the skirt to said recent wedding, it was still hanging on a valet rod in my closet (I know, fancy huh?) on the day that I was pulling together an outfit for these photos.  I adore how well the gray and taupe tones in the plaid match up with the gray and bronze in the skirt and how the chunky heel helps to take the edge off of the sparkle and shine.

My thick knit cardigan was also included in one of the looks shown in the 2015 post and is a thrift store find.  Underneath is a light-weight pullover sweater that I recently bought at one of my favorite well-known retailers.  I usually shy away from red this time of the year but with the changing color of my hair, I’ve been trying to add some brighter colors and this softer red hue spoke to me.  Normally, I might have opted to pair up an off-white or light beige top with this skirt and sweater combo but it was the red flowers in the pattern on the booties that had me thinking otherwise.

The cardigan has no butttons or other fasteners so I usually wear it open but I’d been thinking of added some type of closures to give me additional styling options. For these photos, I’ve used one of my several snowflake brooches that I typically wear during December to pin it temporarily.  In an upcoming Accessory To Style themed link up post, I’m going to share more of my snowflake brooch collection plus a few of the other ones I have and present a couple of out-of-the-ordinary ways to wear them.

Sometimes, floral booties as cute as mine (yes I may be a bit biased in that opinion) need to be in full view and not limited to playing peek-a-boo under a midi-length skirt. Besides, once I start playing dress up, it can be a little hard for me to stop even if my photo taking window of time is short and the temps are near 90 degrees. Needless to say, it was hot the day these photos were taken but it’s Fall and I want to wear sweaters and boots!

Recognize this dress? Yep, another look for the gray number that was featured in Shift Dress: Up Down All-Around. The boots are a bit more center stage in this outfit since they are fully on display with the rest of the pieces being in tones of gray.

Let’s Wrap This Up

Now, onto the Fine-Whatever link up for this week. My featured contributor from last week’s link up is Edwige, the editor-in-style at Hypnoz Glam, her little corner of the web where she documents her style and life. Look how gorgeous she is rocking those OTK boots. Edwige has been a contributor my link up and all-around supporter of my blog for a while now so please do pop over and check out her fashion inspirations.

The fun with my floral booties doesn’t stop here. They’ll also be appearing in the next Last Week, This Week post as I wore them to work last Thursday. Have floral booties made their way into your closet yet?  I must confess that I actually bought another pair as well on that birthday shopping trip.  I took that pair with me on the East Coast trip that got cut short but the photos of when I wore them didn’t get posted.  You might have noticed that I wore them to work just before Thanksgiving in my summer skirt for Fall look.  Don’t worry though, they’ll make an official appearance on the blog again soon.

Let’s connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin … all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you. And don’t forget to add a post or two to the link up.

Your floral boots are just the cutest Rena! I love their unique combination of the subtle plaid with the fun little floral touches!
This maxi skirt strikes me as the kind of item you’re going to have in your closet forever. If it works with a chunky sweater I suspect it will work with practically anything. It might even be fun to add some floral patches to one of your jackets ( a plaid one would be perfect) similar to what our friend Sherry wore (and crafted) while we were in Seattle. I think it would look cool to replicate these boots with a bit of embellishment on a jacket designed to match and wear with that fsbulous sequined skirt.
I’m starting to feel like I need to get into the sequined look myself during the holidays!!

Thanks, the booties are fun and I will give your idea on embellishing a companion piece for my booties some thought and see if I can come up with something. I do hope that my skirt will stand the test of time. Sequinned garments can be a bit fragile so I’m extra careful about sliding into the car or wearing accessories that might snag it.

  2. Those booties are just the funnest ever, Rena!! I have a pair, but I keep forgetting to wear them because I’ve become so enamored with my OTK boots (and it’s getting cold here–ha ha)
And I absolutely love the brooch to hold the sweater together—that’s such a great idea and so pretty too!!!
I’m just in love with both of these outfits!!!!
    Have a fabulous weekend!!
