Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.

Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be retired, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, I consider that to be your “work” and you should/can be dressed accordingly. And even if you are retired, in whatever manner you’ve enjoyed your day is good enough for me. I’m inspired by the creativity I see shared on the many blogs and Instagram accounts that I follow.

Monday

I’ve mentioned my renewed fondness for longer skirts in a few of my more recent posts so I decided to make that my guiding theme for last week’s office attire.  The one you see in these photos is from Coldwater Creek and it’s a recent thrift store find.  This skirt has figure-flattering seaming and the weight of the fabric makes for a good swish and swirl when I walk.  The colors in it are a mix of black, brown, bronze, and a silvery gray (much like my hair at this point, LOL).

Tuesday

This is one longer length skirt that isn’t from a thrift but I did find it on the clearance rack at a popular nation-wide retailer.  Much like Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style did in her Summer Skirts Transitioned to the Fall and Ageless Style post from September (see photos at the end), I’ve taken a summer skirt and “autumnized” it by pairing it with my black cargo vest, a white blouse, and floral booties.

Wednesday

If you saw my last post, then this skirt ought to look familiar. The outfit might seem a bit casual but last week Wednesday was technically my “Friday” so hence the more relaxed looked.

The phrase “going long” most often refers to business or investment transactions where there is no immediate intention of a turn-around sale, the expectation being that the asset will rise in value over time. My use of it was more literal and in reference to the length of my skirts. However, as I think about it, wouldn’t you say that sometimes we “go long” as we build our wardrobes and “invest” in our personal style?

And there you have it, a look back at what I wore to work last week.  I expect that in future posts there will be repeat wearings of some of these outfits or a mix and match of the pieces as has already occurred. If you missed the post where I explain the reasons behind this new weekly feature (minus the link up), you can read about it here.

Let’s connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin … all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you. And there’s still lots of time to join the Fine-Whatever link up in last Saturday’s post, Camo Skirts: Reclaim-Recycle-Reuse.

OK are you just going to calmly pass over those fabulous floral (embroidered?) booties with only a meer mention!!! Theyre my most favorite item of the week!! You always have some pretty cute footwear my dear but those are a story that needs telling!
I like the casual Wednesday look of the jean vest and the camo skirt alot!! Hooray for short weeks. Hope your Thanksgiving was loving and delicious and that your got through the cyber frenzy unscathed. 🙂

Ya, I know that I didn’t say much about the floral booties but that’s because they’re going to be featured in an upcoming post. They are pretty cute, if I do say so myself, and quite comfortable to boot (haha). Thanksgiving was good and would you believe, I didn’t do much shopping at all, cyber or otherwise.

Oh boy, I should have spent some time proof reading my message before sending. What a mess.

I love the look with the embroidered booties! Those are so fabulous! I need to get myself a maxi skirt – except I don’t have a sewing machine and I will inevitably need it hemmed. Short girl problems!

Thank you, Roxanne, and I know what you mean about short girl problems. I was very glad that the maxi skirt wasn’t too long but I’ve been wearing it with heels so that helps.
