You may have noticed that there was no link up published last week nor have there been any Social Media Blast posts for the past two weeks. Let be first reassure you that all is well. My brief silence is not a signal of any trouble other than a shortness of time.

My recovery has gone remarkably smoothly. If it wasn’t for the scars, I feel pretty much like my prior self and I would hardly know that I’d had major surgery a little over six weeks. Among my fears before the big event was that I might come through the experience with some diminishment in my physical abilities but that hasn’t been the case [excuse me while I knock on some wood].

The “excused from work” recovery time for this type of surgery is typically six weeks but by my choice, I went back to work a week earlier than that (with clearance from my doctor). I wasn’t quite back to 100% but I knew that I would mostly be at my desk, however, I still was a little wrung out by the end of the first day. Everyone was happy to see me back in the office so that helped to buoy my spirits. I also worked only three days that week since my first day back was Tuesday and I took Friday off on vacation.

Even so by the end of that first week, I was more than a bit tired and hadn’t come up with a color combination to feature in the post (theme for the 3rd Saturday of the month). I tried throwing something together but it didn’t turn out well. Lacking the energy to come up with anything else, I decided to just let it go.

As for the Social Media Blast collaboration, it appears that it has come to an end. Despite the efforts of the group to promote the idea of bloggers supporting others in their efforts to grow their social media followings, the level of participation in the link ups had stagnated. For the time being, Social Media Blast is on hiatus but that doesn’t mean that we’ve stopped supporting the cause. #bloggerssupportingbloggers

Besides getting caught up at work, I’ve been using these past two weeks to plan and set up a schedule for future blog posts. Prior to my surgery, I had worked up a schedule that went through to the end of July and I’d been winging it since. I’m very excited about the schedule and topics I have mapped out for the next four months. I’ve got some new stuff to share that I’ll be rolling out in the next few weeks as well.

This week’s link up will be out on Saturday. I do hope that you’ll stop by to read, comment, and of course, join the party.

Let’s connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin … all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Jodie, you’re right, sometimes a break is necessary. All too often though, our egos won’t let us take one. In hindsight, I should have not expected to keep up with posting while I was recovering. No matter, I’m good now and ready to rock-n-roll.

You look so cute in that little cold shoulder top Rena. Despite the energy drain of getting back to your routine you look rested, happy and on trend. I think you are very wise to take all the time you need to rejuvenate both body and soul.
Scars are proof of having survived life’s challenges great and small. I have many and though I’m not delighted with the way they look they serve to remind me of my strength.

It is great to see you back, my friend. And you are looking lovely in this adorable purple tie dye top. So stinking cute! I am glad all is well. Although I suspected as much since you have been commenting on my posts (thank you so much for your continued support). Take the time you need though to get back in the swing of things. Your blogger friends will still be here! I look forward to seeing what fun style you are going to share on this weekend’s post!

    Hugs,

  6. Good to know you’re alright, Rena, forgive the silence from my end as well. We came back from a long vacation in mid August and drove Eve straight to her university the day after, returning to Houston on the 21st. Only to be greeted by Hurricane Harvey. So it’s been a whirlwind of the past few months 🙂 xoxo

Thank you, Sheela. It’s good to hear from you and I know how crazy life can get during summer. Your Eve will be having the time of her life in college if she’s anything like my kids and I hope that you and your family came through Harvey without much property damage.
