The Husband and I are in the midst of getting ourselves ready for a weekend getaway/mini vacay so this post featuring the color combo of greenery and tan will be short and sweet (and published on time). I don’t have, or at least I didn’t have until recently, much in the way of green in my wardrobe. I’ve been inspired by Pantone’s color of the year choice as well as the revitalized landscape of So Cal after the drought-buster rains we’ve had this past Fall/Winter to add a bit more.

While not quite the color as described by Pantone, the green in my banded collar top still reminds me of the newly lush hillsides in my corner of the world. I grabbed this lovely item off the rack while walking down the aisle of that well-known department store with the bull’s eye logo and put it my shopping cart without a second thought. There had also been a purse with the same print on display that I was tempted by but, on that, I resisted especially since The Husband was with me. Fine, whatever.

The top is sleeveless which I prefer when layering under a cardigan or jacket.  The length is perfect for an untucked and loose look as I’m wearing it here, or it could be worn neatly tucked in.  The darker color palette makes it suitable for pairing with heavier cooler weather items, a warm weather option when paired with lighter colors, or a mix of both as the weather is in transition.

The color of the cardigan looks a little washed out in these photos but it’s really a lovely shade of heathered oatmeal (or more plainly, tan) and I wear it very often as a completer piece for work during warmer months. We were headed out to dinner after taking these photos so I had grabbed my chain necklace with pearl drop beads and a pair of newly thrifted sandals to complete the look.

Other Ideas And Options For Greenery

Let’s Wrap This Up

Now, onto the Fine-Whatever link up for this week. My featured contributor from the last link up post is Jacqui, the creative force behind Mummabstylish. In her blog post, Jacqui features a pair of DIY frayed hem jeans. Now I’m inspired to try this on a pair of my own jeans.

  1. That retailer that you speak of has some of the most fabulous prints for Spring! I just picked up the cutest cropped flare pants in an adorable floral that I can’t wait to wear. I can see why you did not hesitate on buying this top. It is beautiful! Have a fabulous min-vacation!

Thanks, Shelbee. I think it was the combo of the print and the high collar that made the top a must-buy for me. I’m looking forward to seeing how you will be wearing floral cropped pants. I’ve been searching to add a few to my wardrobe.

That floral top is really cute. I love the nod to a vintage 1960’s, lively, “pop art” print!!
I’m sure you’ll wear it a lot as the days grow warmer and you can leave the cardigan behind.
Those strappy sandals look comfy as well as very complimentary to the outfit! Great find Rena!!

Marilee, I need to start sending my photos to you for feedback on how I should describe my outfits. I’d hadn’t thought to highlight the artistic style of the floral print. Thank you for the compliments.

Thank you, Amy. The top and the sandals are indeed the stars of this outfit.

I’m a big green fan—although it hasn’t been as readily available in the last couple of years (thus the advantage of thrift store shopping, i say!) But I bet we’ll be seeing it more and more at the retail stores now that Pantone has called it good!
You should see the duster I chose for my mom from our post—I should have used her photo instead of mine!

Jodie, green is good with your coloring. I’m starting to see more green in stores but that could have been because of St Patrick’s day (LOL). Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  4. Love that blouse. So pretty. You styled it perfectly with the cardi over top and the black pants and sandals. I am a big fan of layering and this top is versatile enough to wear in a variety of ways. Definitely a winning look! Thanks for sharing and for hosting the link up. – Amy

Amy, I’m glad that you like the top and how I’ve styled it. Thank you for the lovely compliments and I’m so pleased that you’ve joined the link up.

  5. That’s a beautiful top! Of course you had to pick it up!

    Have a great getaway!

Thank you, Patti. I was pretty jazzed when I found the sandals. Because they’re covered at the heel, they are easy to wear with pants. I find the combo of sandals and longer pants can be problematic if the hem keeps getting caught.

  6. Rena you are ready for Spring, Beautiful. I love that white+green daisy print from Who What Wear so much. I bought the blouse version and bomber jacket of it and styled the bomber on my latest Thursday Moda, too.
